Both Engadget and Gizmodo have credible information regarding the possibility of Mobile giant Verizon Wireless acquiring Alltel Wireless for approximately $27 Billon. This information mainly emerging from a breaking report from CNBC today. If this merger were to happen, granted the FCC allows it, it would make Verizon the largest wireless coverage provider in the world with over 80 million customers.
